I sponsored a filipina on a K-1 fiance visa that expires in 3 days. We didnt work out so she has 2 choices facing her.

1. Go back to the phils and train to be a nurse or physical therapist . Her goal is to land work overseas.

2. Work here Illegally in the US at $2,000/mo tax free and maybe return to her family in the Phils 5-10 yrs later with a butt load of money, more than enough to pay for all schooling expenses right away. She knows this action would make her off limits to ever working in the US, but probably not other countries.
She is leaning on going back cause it REALLY bothers her to be here Illegally. I think its a self esteem/conscience type thing. But she is also not 100% sure she has the funds to finish a nursing school.

From what I can research on th net, and this forum, it seems that if she goes back in order to not bust her legal status, and gets her nursing credentials, her chances of getting a nursing job in the US is about 1 in 10. But Im not sure what the odds are for getting a job SOMEWHERE in the end, like Canada or Australia etc.What are her overall chances of getting a job overseas at all? With 630,000 nurses there now who cant get work overseas, much less locally, it doesnt look to good.

Lastly, how much does it all cost from beginning to end?

I don't have any answers except I think its a bad idea for her to stay here illegally. Secondly, can she get a student visa and go to school here?

it is a bad idea to stay here illegally, she will be found, it could also jepordize her getting a nursing license in the future. if she is going to work overseas why doesn't she go back and go to school there?? i wish her the best of luck in her decision..

I don;t think she should stay here illegally - esp. if she might want to come back one day.

I hope she finds some clarity about what to do.

As long as her nurse training meets the county's requirements she will have a good chance on working abroad ie BSN or atleast 3 years. Regardless on where she does her training she will have to go through the process to move to another country and that can take several months and some countries require them to pass their nursing exam. If she does her training in the US apart from it being expensive if she wants to stay in the US then she will be affected by retrogression if it is still in progress, possible wait of years and may have to leave.

Definitely do not recommend she stays here illegally, ICE have been working hard and may not be staying in the US as long as she would like and get a ban

She can go back home and go for the BSN, that will give her the training to go to another country if she wants. But she should only go into nursing if that is something that she truly wishes to do, not because it will get her a visa out of the country the fastest. If she does not truly want to do it, she will not be able to last in the field.

As you have mentioned, there are many that are in school there now, not sure what it will be like when she finishes.

But to remain in the US when she has already been tagged to leave is only going to make things much rougher for her. Just being in a taxi that is pulled over for some reason could get her deported. And any that are deported go directly to immigration detention.

So it is not an option to even consider remaining in the US, she has already received a letter that she has to leave, she has no choice in the matter at this time.

Well, despite a $2,000/mo job offer here, she ended up deciding to go back home and her family (and I) will help her with expenses of nursing school. She couldnt stand the thought of doing something illegal. Didnt sit well with her heart and conscience.
