I remember as a nursing student I had purchased a second hand nclex book. It was my bible, having the rationale for the questions and right answers. I loaned it too a lot of people and they thought it was great. I don't remember ever getting it back. From what I understand in US they graduate and then take Nclex Is that right? Here we seem to have stacks of multiple choice questions plus the sections that you need to elaborate on and some scenarios. What I want to know is: Is the selection or type of question more arduous than ours, how many attempts can they have. I don't remember getting into such a state with exams, I actually didn't mind them and did better than at some of the assignments.
I was told CQU had one of the toughest nursing programs out? Is this also true?

From what they say in the American forums I think that you are right - they graduate and then take NCLEX. I really think we should do something similar here, or at least have our courses standardised. When I did my EN we had both hospital and state exams. They had just invented the electric light back then . My RN didn't require that. I do know all the courses offered by the unis have to meet the local Nurses Boards as well as the ANMC standards

I'm not sure about CQU being the toughest. I think the only way you are going to find that out is if you can find someone who has had to transfer from one university to another...

It is a shame that the person who lent your NCLEX book didn't have the manners to return it to you. I had something similar happen with a pharmacology book. It was brilliant, and I had left it at work for everyone to use as a reference.

NCLEX is actually our licensing exam, it is different from state boards that we no longer have since the NCLEX is national and results are accepted in all 50 states states as well as US territories.

Any second edition book would be considered quite old, Saunder's actually has a 4th edition that is out now. Information as well as test style questions have changed considerably.

And it does make an excellent review book.

I like your NCLEX idea. We don't have an all encompassing exam here in Australia, or even our states. We only have ones set by our universities. But all courses have to be approved by the ANMC. I guess that was what I was trying to say, in my own usual foot-in-mouth fashion

BTW didnt see the poll up the top. I hate Potter and Perry! Give me Brunner and Suddarth any day, much more practical...
