My brother in Philippines just passed his NCLEX and he needs a job in the US

Does anyone know of hospitals in New Jersey or New York City who are recruiting directly from the Philippines?
He desperately needs a job in the USA preferably in Northern NJ, so I can help out. He has a family of 3 kids and one is going to college this June to take Nursing.
Appreciate any response.
Thanks.

Re: My brother in Philippines just passed his NCLEX and he needs a job in the US

I've moved your thread to the International Nursing forum, which is where we try to keep all questions about working in other countries.

There are very few (if any) hospitals, in any US state, recruiting foreign nurses at thise time because of the retrogression and lack of available visas. Please read some of the threads on the Int'l Nursing forum about current issues/problems with immigrating to the US. There is lots of information available here.

Your brother would be better looking for a job either at home or in another country whilst waiting, currently looking at several years if luck to getting a visa for the US. As mentioned in the previous post there is much already written just try the search facility

Re: My brother in Philippines just passed his NCLEX and he needs a job in the US

I wish you luck, it is going to be quite difficult for him to get direct hired at this time because of the retrogression in place. Even if he does get hired, he is still looking at about a five year plus wait to get a chance at a green card, it is no longer guaranteed. And there are many more graduates now that have the same wishes and still only the same number of visas per year that the US issues.

Is your brother a recent grad, or with years of experience? Big difference with that as well.

The one that is entering school will be done before there is any chance of the father getting here with things the way that they are. Definitely would recommend going to another country to get experience first as well.

There are thousands of NCLEX passers in the PI, they're a dime a dozen. But nobody is going to the US since there are no visas. Not for a very, very long time.

Appreciate your responses. My sister-in-law's best friend works in a Jacksonville, Florida Hospital and claims she can help and will ask Human Resources for help and that my brother can get here in few months. Guess, Maybe she's unaware of "retrogression". Don't even know what that is all about. Guess he can try New Zealand.
Thanks again.

Re: My brother in Philippines just passed his NCLEX and he needs a job in the US

And there is no way for someone to be legally here in a few months, suspect that they may be speaking of one of the H- series visas and these require that the nurse actually pass the English exams and have a Visa Screen Certificate in hand before they can even be considered for one.

If just passed the NCLEX exam, it is going to be months to get the VSC as well.

And what about his experience as an RN? Is there any or is he a new grad?

Sorry, but the person that knows someone who knows someone does not have information that is valid at this time.

He has passed his IELTS and awaiting his visascreen certificate. He had a few months of ICU experience, the rest is teaching in university and clinical instruction.
THANKS.

Re: My brother in Philippines just passed his NCLEX and he needs a job in the US

That experience in teaching is not going to count as work experience as far as bedside nursing is concerned. Few months in ICU and he will still be considered as a new grad. That is what is so different between the US and your country, you would never see one in the position of lecturer or clinical instructor without having years of experience first.

No matter what anyone tells you, it is not easy to even qualify for the H series visas, also be aware that no other family member can work if they come as his dependent, meaning that he will be the full support for the family and wife cannot work.

We hear talk of it every so often, but then nothing ever materializes with it.

If you take the time to do some reading here, you will find much on this very same topic.
