Question Main BON?

Hi to all. I am new here. I am a foreign grad and just passed nclex rn last october. my questions are:
1) Is there such a thing as main BON? I mean I am a RN of northern mariana islands and the thought of why I ever applied in that state drives me nuts. I cannot contact them in any form but by letter ONLY(which takes them 2 months to answer), They do not have a website, they do have email address but they do not answer (as expected)..and their telephone numbers? 10minutes in answering machine..the other one was always telling me "temporarily disconnected" (i dont know what temporary means now in the dictionary..i've been waiting for 2 months and still i hear "temporarily disconnected!")..is there a way or department I can express my concerns? say, a main nursing department who looks for all the state BON if they are doing their jobs? sometimes i doubt if there are staffs in CNMI BON...nobody is answering the phone, as if there are a lot of jobs for them like Ca BRN..
2) I want to apply for endorsement in Ca, is SSS# a must?
please somebody answer me..

Re: Main BON?

Moved your post to the International forum.

To endorse you must have a SSN in mpst cases especially with Ca. Also with retrogression you are looking at several years at the moment before moving to the US if lucky to get work permit due to the high demand from your country. I would suggest a read in this forum as much has been written on Ca and immigration issues

Re: Main BON?

Are you asking about the Maine (as in state) board of nursing? Or "main" as in one place to go for all the states? Each state regulates its own nursing practice. Best bet is to follow up with whichever state you want to apply to. The links are available on the main page of the website in the right upper hand corner. Good luck.

Re: Main BON?

Which state are you speaking of? The Marianas are not a state, but only a territory of the US and have their own BON. Each state and each territory handles licensure on their own.

The islands are not a state of the US and are not considered as such. If you wish to endorse that license to another locale, then you need to follow the requirements for endorsement and meet the requirements of the new place.

Please be aware that the US is under a retrogression at this time and you are looking at about five years at the minimum to be able to work in the US if that is what you are trying to do.

Be aware that you never selected a state from the US for your initial licensure and that the place that you selected does not use computers for their communication most of the time.
