Red face looking for some nursing career advice?

I just came back from a trip to California and absolutely LOVED it and feel like I could definitely live there...the only problem is that I currently live in Canada and I'm enroled in the RPN program for September here. I was thinking I'd go to school and hopefully travel and work elsewhere after I graduate but I've been reading info on this website and realizing that it may be pretty difficult to travel or work anywhere other than Canada with only the RPN. I thought about looking into going to school in California but also heard that Canadian nurses have better opportunities in the end??? Also what is the difference in qualifications between an LPN and RPN? Can you write some kind of test to be able to work in the States? What about Europe? Am I going to be limited to stay in Canada????
Does anyone have any good advice for 25year old who wants a good job but also wants to travel ??? HELP !

Re: looking for some nursing career advice?

For most countries you have to be a RN for purpose of immigration and work. US and Europe definitely RN even if coming from Canada. I would consider getting RN at some stage and it will open the world up to you regarding moving and jobs. EU at the moment is hard, if not from the EU or have EU passport, to find an employer willing to help with work permit not sure if that will change in the future but doubt it for the next few years unless you have experience in an area classed as shortage skills

The LPN/RPN license will not make it thru immigration so you will be unable to work in other countries with it. Even to come to the US, one is required to have at least RN after their name to get a TN Visa to work here.

Best of luck to you with your schooling.
