Hello out there:

I am currently an RN at a New York City hospital working in Labor & Delivery. It's challenging yet I long for the adventure of working in a foreign country. I was on the expedition Operation Raleigh over 10 yrs ago and am looking for that excitement again. I'm unattached and able to move around, any one know if I could get funding to work in a military hospital where I could work (on salary)?

I'm currently making a LARGE salary at my hospital but they allow leave up to one yr ...
any help would be appreciated. Thanks,

Much has changed with the Military here in the UK and downsized and/or closed military hospitals and have wards in certain UK NHS hospitals. Also they generally have their own nurses. You would need to meet UK NMC requirements. Would also add there are many UK nurses finding it hard to find work with many hospitals suffering financially. Immigration has also changed and unless from UK/EU will find it hard to get a hospital to petition for work permit., may find it easier if you have great experience in a nursing area that is on the Occupation short list. Also add I doubt you would receive the same pay as in the US. Much has been written in the UK forum on current working issues in the UK.

Just wondering if you mean US military hospitals and not UK military hospital?

Moving this thread to the International Forum since it is specific to working internationally.

Not aware of any US miliatary hospitals in the UK at this time. Are you looking for a UK military facility or an American one that is located overseas?

Please be aware that most of the military contracts are for longer than one year.
