I just graduated in Oct. in the philippines, I'm a US citizen. If I apply to take the NCLEX while i am here in the philippines will it take longer for me to attain my eligibility? Or should i go the US and apply there? I want to enroll in a review center here in Manila but I want my application to be processed before doing so. I'm choosing between the state of CA or NV. Which state do you think is faster?

I don't think it will make much difference on getting eligibility for NCLEX you just have to start your application. You will find it a bit easier as you are a US citizen. CA takes several months for eligibility but I would suggest apply to the state you want to work as you may still need to follow requirements for foreign trained nurse

That you are a US citizen makes no difference in the licensing process, it is based 100% where you attended school, and in their eyes, you are a foreign graduate. Nothing will change that ever, even if you were to want to work in a state that requires the CGFNS exam for a foreign grad, you would have to go thru that.

Nevada requires the CES.........CA does not but the issue is where you wish to work, base the state on that. No maater which state that you select, you are going to have to go thru the same process that any foreign nurse does.

And do not recommend any of the review centers for the NCLEX exam that are over there. Take the time to do some reading on the Philippine Forum and you will see exactly what I am talking of.

Thank you Anna and Suzanne. I thought it would be easier for me. Anyway, I'll probably go back to CA to review NCLEX after i get my trancript. I'm planning to work in NV, but since they require CES and CGFNS I think I'll go for CA.

Not a smart move; if you are going to work in Nevada, you are still going to need to go thru the CES process, even to endorse. Why waste the time and money for licensure in CA if you are not going to use it?

And for others reading here: Remember that even if you are a US citizen and hold a US passport; if you graduate from out of the US, you will be considered a foreign grad and have to go thru those requirements for licensure. You will not have to deal with immigration issues, but you will need to follow all of the requirements for the foreign nurse.
