dilemma

Hi

I have been reading through the questions on answers on this forum, after only having discovered this website a few days ago.
I realise I have made a huge mess of my application process- if only i had found this site in June last year when I started the process.
I have made the mistake of applying for initial regsitration as a foreign RN to CA BON, and am now into my 8th month of waiting for my ATT. I believe that I am almost at the end of this particular step and hope to recieve my ATT at the end of the month.
Am I right in thinking it is better to take the NCLEX in the US rather than London?
And is it still a month to hear back on results? Why so long?
Do you think it might be worth applying to another board at this stage?
And if so which boards are taking the least amount of time to process ATT's? (Preferably without need of CGFNS or SSN)

Thanks

Zoe

If you do not have a SSN#, then it will be three to four weeks for you. CA BRN does not issue a license without a SSN#, and you will have to wait for snail mail to arrive.

Quickest time for any state lately is about three to four months, and that is for Vermont. There is nothing that is fast as they have to review your application and all is completed before they will permit you to sit for the NCLEX exam.

But if CA is taking that long, sounds like something was missing from your file. Do you in fact have enough of the required hours in the required areas to be able to even sit for the exam?

When did you actually graduate from your program and did you have hours in mental health as well as maternal and peds?

just to add to what Suzanne has said, makes no difference if exam taken in UK or US it is the same.

UK training does not always meet requirement of BON and each BON has different requirements
