Hi. Just wondered if anyone can exllain the American holidays that we do not have in England like Thanksgiving, Memorial Day, Labour Day etc and any that are specific to California please? I would like to understand these holidays before I move there - what do they mean to people? What do they celebrate? When? Why?

Hope someone can enlighten me - dont want to arrive and seem uninterested in the american way!!
