about get another job after 180 days filing I-485


For nurses already living in US,Most of them applying green card by filing I-140 and I-485 at the same time. Normally after you filed I-485 for 180 days, then you can change your job and still get your green card application approved as long as your job is in the same field. So for nurses who have filed I-485 for more than 180 days, can they work in another hospital as RN? Have anybody did this before without causing any problem to their green card application? I know many engineers do this? But I dont know if nurses can do this too, can somebody give me some info or advice?

I would be interested in this answer as well. My I-485 was filed Aug 2006. And for my family circumstances i need to relocate to different state.

Please check with your immigration attorney that did your petitioning. Remember that NURSE GREENCARDS are employer specific. Very different from other fields that require that you be in the US working for about five years to get a green card.

Nursing petitions actually can become void if you change the employer. Do not do a thing until you get legal counsel on this one.

That is why if someone has issues with their employer, they need to start the process over again from the beginning, they do not switch and stay in the same place, but back to square one.

and besides, there is a big probability that the sponsoring hospital will ask you to sign a contract so they will have a hold on you....

In a way this happened to me about 18 months ago, got approval and first hospital backed out then found another hospital willing to petition me but we had to start all over again from advertising job and refiling I140 delayed me for months which caused alsorts of problems
