Residency Program

We are in the process of creating a residency program for new orientees in our hospital. i would like to know more about this program. what are the topics that could be covered during this program. are they general topics or by specialty? how long does it take time? is it one year or few months? is there any website or literature review that can be of further help to me. you can share your personal experience as well.
thank you.
Roro.
