Creating Environments of Excellence
This conference is co-sponsored by the Central Indiana Organization of Nurse Executives, Indiana League for Nursing, and Nursing 2000.
June 16, 2006
The purpose of the conference is to present compelling patient/family perspectives of health care experiences and the challenges to nurse clinicians, leaders, and educators in building care delivery environments of safety and excellence.
Framing these issues with a human face, Rosemary Gibson will discuss her book, "Wall of Silence" with narratives about patient and clinician experiences of medical errors. Thought-provoking suggestions for care delivery environments will be encouraged. As an expert in adult health, Patricia Ebright, DNS, RN will present "A New Look at Nursing Work: Implications for Patient Care Quality and Safety." In conclusion, both presenters will lead participants in an interactive discussion of advancing cultures of safety and excellence.
Objectives
Participants will:
- Make the invisible visible by placing a human face on medical error.
- Describe patient and family perspectives in the aftermath of error.
- Evaluate the complexity of the nursing work environment to improve patient safety and quality outcomes.
- Apply proven workload management strategies to advance a culture of safety and excellence.
