Sorry to rain on your parade - or in this case road trip! But there is NOTHING like a full on Neuro roadtrip. I always wanted to strangle that "Tangle Fairy" that lives in radiology - you know -the one that manages to not only tangle the lines but plait and knot them as well!!! I have had some bad times on road trips.

Gwenith,

No worries, you didn't rain. The tangle fairy is notorious! I cannot yet imagine the wonders the fair can work with the added equipment from Neuro. I do not start until after Thanksgiving. I and not the op and my position wasn't the internship but, an externship.

My final, final exam for the quarter is today! Yeah.

Actually, I was offered a trauma internship that is kind of competitive to get into so I decided that I would rather do that! It's at a county hospital too so I will get a ton of experience I figured that this would be a better fit for me as a new grad, however, neuro ICU is definitely something that I want to do in the future!

sunshelley,
Neuro Nsg is one of those things...either you love it or hate it.
These patients are high acquity and must have extremely accurate aassessments.Subtle changes can be indicative of major bleeds begining. The type of patients you might see will range from subarrachnoid and ICH bleeds, subdural hematomas, concussions, transphenoidal tumor, and glioma tumor patients, neuroblastoma, etc. Some are vented ...some are not. Some have EVDs and codman drains etc. Most all of these patients are confused, can be physcially agressive and you must ensure that they are maintained in a sfe environment...which at times...is not easy.hope this helps.
