Hello. I'm working in Neuro ICU and currently on 'the Neuro course'. Part of this course requires a presentation to be made, my topic is Central Nervous System Lymphomas.
I've only worked in NICU for a year, and haven't come across any!
I've read a lot of research, so I have the medical and surgical facts for my presentation, but I wondered if anyone knew anything about the condition from the patient / nurse perspective?

I'd love to know about long term prognosis, future complications, issues the patient may have to deal with on discharge. Which other members of the multi-disciplinary team would be involved? How does the patient feel? Are there any specific issues for nurses to deal with?

I'd appreciate any help anyone could give me.

Yeah, I work with them frequently in our unit, though they are typically either being newly dx or sicks as dogs and ready to die when they arrive. The treatments are horrible, most patients become very ill, and prognosis is terminal....period. Length of time varies. Two resources for you: Cleveland Clinic and Dr. Virginia Stark-Vance in Fort Worth TX. Dr. SV is world renowned expert in this area. She loves to give interviews. She has a book published that is a brain neoplasm Q & A. Her specialty is neuro-oncology. She has developed new experiemental treatments for CNS lymphoma. Also try the national brain tumor institutes website. They have tons of printable material.
