Holiday gifts for staff

I'm in my first year as a nurse manager. I am trying to figure out what I should do for the holidays for my staff. I was hoping you all could share your ideas with me on what you do for your staff. It will be out of my own pocket, roughly 65 employees. Thank you so much!

I'm not a manager but on the receiving end I have received a pen on a rope, another time a tin of popcorn, another time a little date calendar.

Re: Holiday gifts for staff

I started last year to do a collection (leadership) from myself as an asst. director, my dept director, and my division director for a 60+ staff unit. With that money I give it to the local food pantry in honor of my staff and the work that they do.

I then put together some type of card/letter stating where the money went, the number or amount of food supplies it provided to the community, and words of appreciate to the staff...............as we are well aware we'd be lost without them.

I try to make it personal without going overboard but found that many staff really appreciated this over the small trinket I'd otherwise have bought them since I'm still waiting to win the Powerball

In the past, I have given lottery tickets, usually the $1 ones depending on how many I buy for. THis has worked very nicely for me and everyone appreciates it. I did check with our hospital Risk Management/ Policy folks before doing it since I wanted to ensure it wasn't considered gambling which is against the rules.

Re: Holiday gifts for staff

I have given certificates for manicures, I have worked for my staff so they could go home early. A certificate that says, "This entitles you to go home early for one afternoon and I will work in your place" They love this one.
Gas cards are great as well. Especially these days. I don't have as many staff members are you do. I don't think I could buy that many gifts. The week before Christmas is a good time to hide little gifts around the office for each of them. I go to the dollar tree and get christmas pins for them to wear, or even little christmas decorations for their desk. They love to come in and see something pretty at the nurses station.
Also cute little thank you cards with a candy cane or even a candy bar to help them make it through the day. Luckily for me I have a staff that doesn't mind if the gift is inexpensive. :icon_lol:

I think the little pins, or candy cane or candy bar or a soda, along with a nice card, is great when you have a large staff.

Maybe an ornament? An inexpensive candle?

I think the handwritten, personal card expressing your appreciation for their hard work is really important, however.

I also like the "get off work early" card! That is a fantastic idea!!!
