we have been told by our compliance officer we have to do an audit for compliance re to HFAP standards. Anyone have an idea what to audit???
We already do different audits on our specfic units such as Care Plan Documentation, Problem List Doucumentation, Timining and dating nursing orders. Do any of these count????

Never heard of HFAP before. Found their site on the net and it looks like JCAHO knock-off. They have info on their patient safety initiatives and problem areas like restraints, meds, physical environment, pt rights. Check out their site. That should give you more of what you are looking for. www.hfap.org and then you can show the org's pdf along with your revised compliance auditing tools.

I think the compliance officer ought to develop the checklist and you can carry it out. That officer is responsible for the results - so they ought to make sure it is done "correctly and completely"
