Exclamation Re: Anyone have experience with Medical Site Reviewers?

The company known as Founding Advisors, Inc. no longer exists. When you go to foundingadvisors.com, the website redirects you to medassurant.com.

I have done extensive research on this company. They started out as financial advisors and are listed as such up to 2005. The vice president, Raymond K. Walheim is a specialty attorney in venture capital and Wall Street regulations and securities.

The president, Keith Robert Dunleavy, got his medical degree from Harvard University (I checked.) and then let his medical license to practice medicine in Maryland lapse in 2000. He has never continuously practiced medicine except for his medical training and residency in Internal Medicine.

I have copies of the original Founding Advisors, Inc. web pages. They claim the company was founded in 1997 and conversely, in 1998.

The company sued for dissolution of partnership with Health Sciences Group, Inc. in 1997 according to SEC records.

I'm telling you. These people are a bad lot.

Re: Anyone have experience with Medical Site Reviewers?

Have you ever done Heidis reviews? CARA reviews are medicare and occas. Medicaid patients. In Heidis review it can be anyone from private pay, medicaid and the elderly. With CARA you are looking for HCC and ICD 9 codes. If a facility submits a bill for a procedure you go in and look for supporting evidence but also look for other HCC and ICD 9 codes. when you actually get down to it you are looking at a specific time frame for the procedure which is provided in what is called the DCT and then you look for other procedures that you may code that the facility hasn't. If you would like an example please let me know. I really enjoy doing it. We have known HCC and we have what we call a Target. The target is what you are really looking for based on labs that were drawn and submitted and DX. I am fixing to have to leave for a site or I would be more precise but this morning I don't have the time, just let me know if you want any further informationI hope this helps.

Re: Anyone have experience with Medical Site Reviewers?

THANKS for the info Marlene. Yes, I did HEDIS chart reviews for 3 years when I lived in So. CA. I currently live out here in the middle of nowhere in West TX and no one has ever heard of HEDIS. The closest I'd have to go to do this again would be Dallas-Ft.Worth, about 4 1/2 hrs away.
THANKS again.

Re: Anyone have experience with Medical Site Reviewers?

I worked for them last year during the CARA review. I was told a bag of lies by the recruiter that hired me. The pay was satisfactory, but I was told I would receive mileage plus a gas stipend. I was promised fulltime work, and was lucky to work 15 hours a week, I was promised to continue on with Hedis, however, no one could determine if it was going to happen in my region. I was told yes, then no and finally after emailing half of the supervisors I was told no. I put my young child in daycare based on what they told me, and ended up spending more than I earned. NO ONE could return emails or phone calls in a timely manner, making me feel like a "stalker" because I called and emailed constantly. I would never do it again.

Re: Anyone have experience with Medical Site Reviewers?

I am sorry that you had such a hard time. I wished I knew who you were dealing with. I have never had any problems with them and I have been with them since March of 2006. They have always called me in a timely manner and return any e-mails within a 24 hour period. As for as gas allowance I have always received double for what I spend. If I was to spend for example 20.00 for gas I get 40.00 I have never had any trouble getting expenses reimbursed or my pay. I am sorry your experience was not good.

Re: Anyone have experience with Medical Site Reviewers?

Thanks for all the information! I am scheduled for a phone interview in the morning. Do you have any suggestions for types of questions? Also, do you know approximately what they pay LPNs? Thanks in advance!

Their base pay is 17.00 an hour, you get gas mileage and mine usually is double what I spend. If I spend for example 20.00 for gas I usually average 40.00 in payment. I have been with them for 2 1/2 years now. I do a lot of traveling for them, like this past week I went to Myrtle Beach to work. This is about 4 hours from where I live but they always book you a nice room close to the site. Of course you don't have to travel this far, I just enjoy doing it. They also give you a food allowance which is more than I usually use but they give you the amount whether you use that much or not. You do have down time between reviews and you may go 2 weeks without work until they get the other reviews ready. I hope this helps.
