Anyone done HEDIS with Outcomes Inc?

Hello,
I'm considering a HEDIS job with Outcomes Inc for the spring 2006. I live in Seattle and have 2 toddlers that I will need to find care for while I do this. Outcomes said they pay $4/chart and expect an average of 6-8 charts done per hour. Apparently all that needs to be done is finding lab results and copying them. Not really anything that requires much skill! I was hoping it would be interesting but it sounds pretty boring.
Can anyone tell me how many charts they typically do in an hour for this type of work? They only pay mileage after 40miles.
Any idea if the work is steady and reliable? Don't want to pay for daycare and then end up not working.
Know of any other companies that are hiring in Seattle area?

i just got the same offer also. i worry about that milage though with gas prices. she said you should do 8 an hour. there are other companies that pay by the hour i would be more interested in one of those

Yeah, I decided not to go with them. I was disappointed that the job seemed so boring and mindless, plus I got a bad vibe from that company. There are posts from past years of nurses not getting paid by a company in Kansas. Didn't mention the name, but I suspect it might be the same one.

Re: Anyone done HEDIS with Outcomes Inc?

Is all of the work done in the individual doctor's offices? How many charts on average (I know it depends on the size of the office) are done in each office? Is the office staff at the doctor's offices usually pretty helpful or do they tend to view it as an intrusion? Is the mileage paid from your house or from the first office? Do they pay on a 1099 or on a w-2 (do they pay your taxes or are you responsible for them). Is this the company that people were having trouble getting paid from? I submitted my resume several weeks ago and they called me back today and left a message so I'm trying to figure out if this would be worth it or more of a hassle.
Thanks in advance!
Ann

it was posted above 6-8 charts. no gas mileage except if you drive over 40 miles. they take out the taxes for you. you dont get paid for training until after 30 days. didnt sound that good to me. its 4 a chart. not per hour. someone else tells you where to go.

Re: Anyone done HEDIS with Outcomes Inc?

I guess I was minsunderstood, I have tons of experience in hh so I kind of know how to gague being out on the road and piece work as far as profitability. I'll try to be a little more clear, how many charts per doctor's office is the average....if the RN is only reviewing 20 charts or so per office then it's probably not worth it. If there are 100 charts per office then it makes more sense (since travel time is not paid). I understand that they pay for mileage over 40 miles, but where do you start your mileage, at the first office or from your home?

Also, I understand that they WANT 6-8 charts/hour, but what is the norm? Is it more like 10 or more toward the lower end?

Re: Anyone done HEDIS with Outcomes Inc?

i was told that the nurses do 8 an hour and some nurses do 10. they did not say how many you would do in one office. i found the person i spoke with very vague. I didnt' get a good feeling about this at all. I hope someone else who has done this answers your questions. I would consider it if it were per hour and i was paid my mileage for all of it

Re: Anyone done HEDIS with Outcomes Inc?

This company is advertising in the Philadelphia area, ad says $3.50 per chart, and that nurse does on average 7 charts/hour. It also says that they give you a laptop and scanner to use, you just have to scan in the info into the puter to them, and 24 hour tech support. I'm trying to reenter the field after 3 years out after a back injury. Just wondering myself if this place is worth the trouble.
