Worried!

I was never paid for the the two day training and was only paid for half of the charts I reviewed. Needless to say, I did not work for them very long!

If you are in this area and interested in the name of the company - personally e-mail me.
I think I work for this company! I emailed you privately. Is there any way that I can make sure I get paid? Did you eventually get paid? The labor board here was very helpful in the past...but I don't know if they can help since the company is not in my state. They have some great lawyers. I can't imagine doing all this work and not getting paid!!! This is the first time I've done Hedis and I love it so far. Will get my first check next friday. Hope it's right!

I looked in the newspaper classifieds the first year starting in the fall or winter. After that, if you do a good job, the insurance company will contact you each year when it's time to work again. As I said before, it's only part-time, about 3 months, but it's a nice chunk of change and leaves me free to travel the rest of the year.

Hi there, I'm very interested too. I have recently retired but I miss the medical field. I am no longer able to do any type of floor nursing but I would love to do this or something from home. Any help?

Sorry to be so long in getting back to you but I've been traveling.

About November I would start looking on the web-based job sites, (such as Hot Jobs.com) and under key work put HEDIS. Companies generally do training in Feb. so they start early looking to fill the jobs. If you don't find anything then, just keep looking. Sure hope you aren't out in the middle of nowhere like I am...there aren't ANY here. GOOD LUCK!!

Hope it worked out okay. I work for the same company in Kentucky every year. Never had any problems.

Re: Anyone doing HEDIS???

Yes, it worked out fine. I wasn't able to do the HEDIS again this year, though as I had a full time job.

We are employed by insurance companies to go to Dr's offices and hospitals to see if proper care/follow-up is give to patients according to their diagnosis. As I said above, this year I've been assignes 1274 charts to review with some hospitals to be added. Some of what we look for are Immunizations, Well-child care, B/P control, Diabetes control, Prenatal/Postpartum care, Breast cancer, Cervical cancer.

I feel I am helping to keep the docs on their toes as they are given a report of how they are doing and where they should improve. Hopefully, we ALL benefit from it
They actually changed it to
Healthcare Effectiveness Data Information Set. I think last year some time.

Re: Anyone doing HEDIS???

Any tips on how to ge through those long OB charts? I reviewed several charts yesterday with at least 50 scanned sheets per chart (these were GP's who did prenatal care). The charts took me at least 30 minutues a piece and I am reimbursed per chart. Seems like a lot of work for little money. I go to an OB/GYN office later in the month and want to be proficient by the time I get there. I want to feel like I can do this next year to help supplement my income. Any helpful informaiton would be apprecieated. Thanks.
