Other reasons to become a nurse:

Opportunity to develop a really robust immune system from exposure to all the crud that the hospital setting offers.

A chance to experience sleep deprivation on a weekly basis, which new research informs us is akin to a blood alcohol level of .10. Baby, I've been drunk for years!

An ongoing symposium into various forms of mental illness and their unique manifestations on any given weekend night.

Where else can you wear running shoes to work and make > $40.00/hr?

Three words: Full frontal nudity. (Not as big a draw as it's made out to be, given the population we serve....)

Can answer most of the science questions on "Are You Smarter Than A 5th Grader?"

Nothing, but nothing, grosses us out. Oh, except the guy in bed 7.

Ability to elicit intimate details from casual acquaintances and total strangers about their surgeries, sex lives, warped fantasies, etc.

Are immediately assumed trustworthy based on profession alone. (Humbling, isn't it?)

Opportunity to be there for the best and worst that this life has to offer and in so doing, to encounter the sacredness of every human being.

Gotta admit, I love the job......even if I did turn down overtime tonight!

I respectfully disagree. I don't find anything negative and then again that IS the hunmor section. It's a time to poke fun of what we do as nurses. It is NOT mean to hurt anybody's feelings. And you've got to admit, SOME of this stuff is pretty funny.
