Talking Real 911 calls.....

Real 911 Calls, "BELIEVE" it or not!!

Dispatcher: 9-1-1 What is your emergency?
Caller: I heard what sounded like gunshots coming from the brown house on the corner.
Dispatcher: Do you have an address?
Caller: No, I'm wearing a blouse and slacks, why?

Dispatcher: 9-1-1 What is your emergency?
Caller: Someone broke into my house and took a bite out of my ham and cheese sandwich.
Dispatcher: Excuse me?
Caller: I made a ham and cheese sandwich and left it on the kitchen table and when I came back from the bathroom, someone had taken a bite out of it.
Dispatcher: Was anything else taken?
Caller: No, but this has happened to me before and I'm sick and tired of it.

Dispatcher: 9-1-1 Fire or emergency?
Caller: Fire, I guess.
Dispatcher: How can I help you sir?
Caller: I was wondering.....does the Fire Dept. put snow chains on their trucks?
Dispatcher:! Yes sir, do you have an emergency?
Caller: Well, I've spent the last 4 hours trying to put these chains on my tires and... well.. do you think the Fire Dept. could come over and help me?
Dispatcher: Help you what?
Caller: Help me get these chains on my car!

Dispatcher: 9-1-1 What is the nature of your emergency?
Caller: I'm trying to reach nine eleven but my phone doesn't have an eleven on it.
Dispatcher: This is nine eleven.
Caller: I thought you just said it was nine-one-one
Dispatcher: Yes, ma'am nine-one-one and nine-eleven are the same thing.
Caller: Honey, I may be old, but I'm not stupid.

Dispatcher: 9-1-1 What's the nature of your emergency?
Caller: My wife is pregnant and her contractions are only two minutes apart.
Dispatcher: Is this her first child?
Caller: No, you idiot! This is her husband!

And the winner is..........

Dispatcher: 9-1-1
Caller: Yeah, I'm having trouble breathing. I'm all out of breath. Darn....I think I'm going to pass out.
Dispatcher: Sir, where are you calling from?
Caller: I'm at a pay phone. North and Foster. Damn......
Dispatcher: Sir, an ambulance is on the way. Are you an asthmatic?
Caller: No.
Dispatcher: What were you doing before you started having trouble breathing?
Caller: Running from the Police.

LOL!!! Recently there was a 911 call replayed on the local radio...a woman had called 911 because she couldn't get the burger she wanted at Wendy's and she was pizzed. She sounded like she was serious, and in a state of mania or something....

Then again, another woman called 911 to get help...she couldn't control her child. The dispatcher got very sarcastic with her, thinking it was a crank. But...today we DO see children with severe emotional and violence problems where a 911 call might be needed to save someone's life, and that was what was going on. An adult sized 12 yr old was threatening family with a knife. The dispatcher lost his job.

Goodness - that's scary that they didn't respond to that appropriately. I used to work as a dispatcher (911 + all law enforcement areas because we are a small area) and it was our protocol to send law enforcement to EVERY 911 call even if we think it's a prank. (Sarcasm would have been grounds for immediate dismissal, nqa!!!) I once sent out an officer who was all upset about going out in the county to check on a 911 call because it was kids who called & hung up. Well, it was a good thing he went because it was a 5 yr. old and a 3 yr. old that were left home by themselves!!! Child welfare had to get involved and the children had to be brought into town. 911 hang-ups can be sometimes even more serious than a "real" call, therefore our protocol made us check them all out.

I did have a 911 caller once who wanted to know how he could get ahold of someone by the name of "Deb" who lived in Denver (4 hrs. away). That was all he knew about her, no, he didn't have an emergency, but nobody else could help him and, since we were 911, he thought we could. He called 3 times in a row and finally a deputy had to go get him to knock it off.

MY husband works at the EMS side of the call center in our town.
Some of the calls I have heard visiting him at work.....
MY air conditioner broke.....uuuuhhh do you need an ambulance?

Call from a phone booth at a convenience store. I had some teeth pulled today and I am in pain. Ok the ambulance is on the way. No, I don't want you to send it here I will meet you at my house. I DROVE over here to call. If I am not there have them wait for me.

Call for a possible OD. Could you guys meet me up the street? I am living with my parent and I don't want them to know.

I could probably ask him for tons more these are just a few.
