My Resignation

I am hereby officially tendering my resignation as an adult. I have decided I would like to accept the position of 8 year-old again.

I want to go to McDonald's and think that it's a four star restaurant.

I want to think M&Ms are better than money because you can eat them.

I want to lie under a big oak tree and run a lemonade stand with my friends on a hot summer's day.

I want to return to a time when life was simple - When all that was known were colors and nursery rhymes, but that didn't bother me, because I didn't care.

All you knew was to be happy because you were blissfully unaware of all the things that should make you worried or upset.

I want to think the world is fair. That everyone is honest and good. I want to believe that anything is possible. I want to be oblivious to the complexities of life and be overly excited by the little things again.

I want to live simple again. I don't want my day to consist of computer crashes, mountains of paperwork, depressing news, how to survive more days in the month than there is money in the bank, bills, gossip, illness, and loss of loved ones.

I want to believe in the power of smiles, hugs, a kind word, truth, justice, peace, dreams, the imagination, mankind, and the magic of making angels in the snow.

In ending this, my official resignation, here's my checkbook and my car keys, my credit card bills and my 401K statements.

I have officially resigned from adulthood - And if you want to discuss this further, you'll have to catch me first, cause........

......"Tag! You're it."

Ok, I accept you tag.

Do you think your mom will let you come out when it gets dark so we can play "flashlight"(hide & seek with flashlights). And then tomorrow when my mom is at work and my dad is sleeping(truckdriver), we can steal some bacon out of the fridge and go crawdad hunting(u tie string around bacon, lower into hole by bayou, and catch crawdads). And then we can get playing cards and clothes pins and put them on the spokes of our bicycle tires, that sounds really cool.

Tag....your it!

Wow, Bedpan !
That was sooooooo kool !

And ya know what ? I still DO believe in a LOT of those things !

Even tho' I know things are NOT the way I want/wish them to be... I ACT as if they were ! It really helps. A little bit of pretending (call it denial if you wish) goes a long way ...

Sure beats the alternative.

Soooooooo... how 'bout we grab our pogosticks and BOING to our hearts' content !!!

And I'm very much in the middle of major puberty. Or, my voice is. My brain is still that of a five year old. Oh, happy day!
I looooooove fireballs, icecream, lemon pie, cheesecake, and spaghetti. And my favorite baseball team is the New York Yankees! Always has been, always will be.
I adore smily faces, baby animals, baby humans, and Animal and Miss Piggy from the Muppets. Especially when she gets into her growly voice.
I love Oscar the Grouch on Sesame Street.
My favorite cartoon character is Daffy Duck, because no matter how many times he gets knocked down, he gets up and tries again.

I have always felt sorry for Charlie Brown - I wanted him to kick that football just once!

And Wile E Coyote - Always wanted him to latch on to the Roadrunner just one time! (Of course - that woulda kinda sorta made it difficult to continue on with the cartoons wouldn't it . . . )

I want to return to a time when...my only worry was if the GoodHumor man was coming as I anxiously awaited for the sound of his ringing bells...

when I earnestly played with my dollies...

Tiny Tears

Thumbelina

Pebbles (I prayed hard for her!) and she didn't come out darn it!

...and couldn't wait for when I had my own real babies who are now 14 and 17!

I liked Daffy too. I loved most of the Looney Toons characters. Especially Bugs, Yosemite Sam and Daffy. Still laugh at them now.

Check out http://frogstar.com/wav/tv-daffy.asp for some Daffy Duck sounds.

I also ADORED Bagpuss, Trumpton. Don't know if you got them over in America though.
