Let's play a little game...

Let's have a contest to see who graduated from nursing school with the least (or most) debt?

P.S. I was just curious about how much nursing students debt is after graduating so I figured this would be a way to find out some info.

My parents paid. When I graduated (in 1968 from a hospital diploma program), my entire program, 3 years of room, board, tuition, books and uniforms cost my parents $845!!!

Unbelieveable then and now!

My out of pocket expenses for books, clinicals, scrubs, and everything except tuition itself was somewhere around $2,000.00 my tuition was paid for with a scholarship.

I went to nursing school in Georgia and thanks to the Hope Grant, Pell Grant and WIA (Workforce Investment Act), I had no out of pocket expenses.

Re: Let's play a little game...

by the end of summer term I will be in debt by about $11,000. and it is going to be only the end of my third term. I don't get scholarships or grants or anything. nothing through the state. I also have a 2yr old son in daycare, which is $1080 every 3 months which I pay when I get my difference checks. I am going through this on strictly student loans. I also work 3 nights a week right after clinicals and school. But it will all be worth it. this is what I want. I have always had to work hard for everything I have, even my son!

Re: Let's play a little game...

Is LPN training also counted?
If so, I bet I got ya all beat.
My whole year of LPN training cost $350.00 in 1973.
That was books, tuition, and uniforms.
My mother paid for it all.
