Helping a falling pt stand.....

The other day I was called into a pt room to help two nurses pick up a pt who had presumably feel out of bed... So being the only male on the floor I head on in and stand directly behind what I believe to be a kneeling pt.... I reached under his arms from behind and tell him (he is confused so I know he probably wont help much) "I am going to pull you up and when I do, you stand and we will turn you toward the bed..." about then the nurses on either side of me being to giggle to each other, and point to the front of the pt... Of course when I look over his should I see stool on the floor, nothing new... but the man isn't kneeling at all.... HE HAS NO LEGS!!!! I thought I was going to die.
