I would dedicate all my time off to finding a way to make the doctor do it him/herself. I'm sure I could come up with SOME kind of scope of practice issue, like you know how with DM patients podiatry has to cut their toenails?

Actually, I had an elderly female pt. who's pubic hair was very long and would get caught around her foley and curl into her perianal region. I would have loved to cut it, all I could think of was all those germs multiplying, and it must have been uncomfortable. But it being 11p-7a shift I didn't call the doc for an order.

Honest to God. In a hospital. MD said we should make it. At this time, on the med-surg unit, there was one RN, one LPN and one aide for 18 pts. We didn't point out that he left out the route in his order.

I completely agree! I have seen a few patients in the last two or so months that could have used alcohol but nothing would be done to help these patients who drink regularly.

use of coffee in enema is used because of the stimulates and dilates the vessels, relaxes muscles to detox body and cleanse the bowels...I have to read about it to understand more about the reasoning

If nothing else, it gives them the illusion that they're doing something about their disease.
