Is It Too Late........?

Im 24 and ive been married for a lil over a yr now, and i just want to know is it too late for me to even get started or should i just not even think about it? This is where my heart is at and my husband is 100% supportive in this, but im thinking that maybe i should have started when i was fresh out of high school or around 19 or so. I want to know what you think on this, because im seeing that alot of people that i know have started when they was 18. :-)

Re: Is It Too Late........?

It's never too late to do something you love! If you feel in your heart that you want to be a nurse, then go for it! I graduated with several nurses that were older and some had even waited until their children were grown! I think it's great and will always recommend following your dreams no matter what age! Good luck to you!

It's never too late to go back to school. A few of my classmates were between 49-65 years old. These ladies have graduated and are now working as RNs.

Re: Is It Too Late........?

I do apologize for not bein more specific about the question, but i meant am i too late for the Navy? I know its never too late for school but its the Navy that im concerned about because after hearing that if you dont have a nursing degree in BSN, LPN or RN then they wont let you into the Navy at all not even if you want to join and go to school while in there. Is That true?

Re: Is It Too Late........?

To address your question "is it too late?"....the answer is absolutely not. I'm 35 years old, married, and have two kids. I'm getting ready to join the Air Force this summer. From what I am told, there are many second career nurses that are going this route (second career meaning we changed careers after working in other fields before becoming a nurse).

Also, if you want to be an officer in the Navy, you will have to get a BSN.

Hope that helps some.

Wow I have to chime in on this one.
To address your question "is it too late?"....the answer is a stone hard solid absolutely not.
Like LittleGreek I am going the Air Force route...
Here is some of my information:
I am now 45
I was 40 when I became a NP
I was 34 When I became a RN

All I can say is go for it or you will look back and say; could have, would have, should have....

Re: Is It Too Late........?

You are still a puppy!

I have always wanted to join the military. I was 29 when I realized my family would have starved to death if I joined the USMC. I was 34 when I was divorced and back in school preparing for my Nursing education and the Army was only willing to give me administrative positions because of my color perception.

Now I have my BSN and 5 yrs as an RN and will be joining the US ANC this year at 43.

If you are lucky enough to grow old and able to reflect on your life, you will not regret what you did. You will regret what you didn't do.

Go for it.
