im looking for nursing students who have an interested in becoming military nurses its kinda hard talking to my classmates about my goals when they all want to work at the local g.h

right now its a total toss up army or navy

i called a few people but no one seems to know any thing

All depends on what you want to know. There's plenty to tell, there's multiple facits to beinjg in the military. It helps us answer your questions if they are more specific.

I'll see if I can make these answers short, hard for me to do sometimes, but here goes.

PROS:
Get paid a ton, allowances for everything, more respect than civilian world, get paid to live in another country, TRAVEL, being able to make sure my kids grow up in the same country I did, a free one.

CONS:
Sometimes have to be away from home, live away from extended family, not always be where you want to be.

WHY DO I STAY:
I actually got out for 11 months once, but came back. There is just a type of togetherness you don't find in the civilian job. In the military we are all working toward the same thing, we all live the same experience (small variations) so there is more support. Let me illustrate, I'm in the Navy and Corvette Guy is in the Army, but we both know what the other is going through, even though our services operate completely different. In the civilian world everyone has tolook out for themselve, it is much different in the Navy. I feel like I belong to something good adn I feel good about it. It's not peaches and cream all the time, but most of the time it is well worth it.

ARMY VS. NAVY:
Everyone will have a different opinion here, I just love what I do.

Yep!

Plus, many, many benefits regards to VA home loan [or land], school financial assistance, retirement at a young age, etc. Of course, the benefits are not the main reason but icing on the cake. A lot of people leave the service, then come back. LOL, I exited the USMC in 1988 & returned to service in 2003 with USAR Nurse Corps, then Regular Army Nurse Corps this past March. I plan on staying until total of 20 yrs actice service, too!
