hi everyone...i hope this doesnt seem like a dumb question but...i was thinking about joining the military after nursing school...like the navy or air force...but my question is...if i do what are my chances that they are going to send me to war (iraq)???...because even if there is a little chance that they will...i do not want to join!...thanks for the feedback...again sorry if this question sounds dumb!

So you want all of the benefits of being in the military but you don't want any of the consequences? Our men and women in uniform need better than that! And, yes your question is not only dumb but insulting to those willing to make the greatest sacrifice.

You appear to be incredibly naive. Yet, you made it through university?

My spouse has served 15 years now and respects his medical unit staff. They've served the populations of Bosnia, Kosova, and Cyprus, and yes, they work on people who have been injured serving their country. That's what they sign on to do.

Speaking as a veteran of OIF-1, if you do not have a PASSION for taking care of the soldiers, sailors, airmen, and Marines that defend your freedom, military nursing is NOT for you.

You cannot expect to get the benefits of military service (school money, pay, whatever) without making the sacrifices.

Excuse me but my question was not intended to come out disrespectful or insulting in anyway...i was just asking because i do not want to go to a war i dont believe in...however i have many family members that have served our country and have fought in wars...i dont disrespect anyone by my question and if you got offended it wasnt my intention and you need to calm down!

Folks .... lets be respectful of each other and stop with the personal remarks.

A career in the military means that you are willing to go to war if it is ordered. I would venture to say that most people DO NOT want to go to war, but it is the sacrifice that we make when we enter the military. To the OP .... if you are not willing to go to war or serve as ordered to serve, then perhaps a military career is not for you.
