I think I read somewhere that you have to get a security clearance if you work as a civilian RN for a VA hospital or military hospital like Walter Reed. Is this true? What does a security clearance entail?
Can't imagine why you'd need one as an RN, but stranger things are true.
I had top-secret clearance back in the day, and if memory serves, it was just some detailed forms, psych/personality screen and a long wait on a rather extensive background check.
Don't get any spy-nurse ideas though.... *having* clearance can last a life time, but actually *needing/using* said clearance can equate to 10 minutes out of a lifetime.
