new position @ VA hospital....

Hi guys, I was just offered a position at the VA hospital in Richmond,Virginia. I have a few questions. I was told I would take a med test and was even given a review guide (scary, it's so hard you need a review guide?), and I was told I would need to go through VETPRO (sp). I have no idea what that is. Has anyone gone through this process able to offer some advice?? I really want this position. I'm so excited. I heard it can be a lengthy process, but I can't wait. Thanks guys!

Re: new position @ VA hospital....

VETPRO is a computerized database in which you enter the same informaton which is on your resume, including references.
Study the study guide for the medication exam and you should have no problems. It was a cinch for me and I did not study.

Re: new position @ VA hospital....

VETPRO is an internet based database of persons who are employees of the VAH system. It has advantages and perhaps disadvantages. It provides for ease of transfer from one VA to another should you want to move to another VAH in the future because all VAH's have access. It's like a mega personnel database. It also allows tracking of persons with legal, license or other "problems" (read substance abuse). You can find information about it by Googling VETPRO. The policy guiding it is online.

Good luck with your application. One of my students just started working at a local VA and she loves it.
