need info on type of communications device

Hello Everyone.
I have a question. Just received word that I will PCS to either Germany (LRMC) or Korea. My question: which communications device (mobile/smartphone/PDA) would any of you forum users (those that have spent time in either Germany or Korea) suggest for someone like me?
Thank you in advance,
Have a GREAT Army Evening!

Re: need info on type of communications device

What do you want to do with it? text msg to the states? Some folks have a blackberry.
You can also use VoIP to call the states and is a lot cheaper. If you come to Europe, be very careful of the cell phone services we have here. TKS is one of the providers and they are ripping GIs off with their svc. I am at LRMC at the moment. First time to Europe?

Re: need info on type of communications device

Hello armyicurn:

Thank you for your response! Well, as it so turns out, received NEW orders, today as a matter of fact. Sigh....But it is All Good. I will be staying CONUS, going to Fort Bliss, TX (so far as long as my orders are not amended )
So I thank you again for your fast response. I had been to LRMC, when my oldest was critically wounded down range and was not expected to live. Everyone was so good and emotionally supportive of me during that time.
Stay Safe
