MSN/FNP for the Airforce

Does anyone know what rank a mater's in nursing/ nurse practitioner starts out as in the Airforce? I have my RN right now but I'm trying to decide if I should pursue a BSN or MSN. If they start off same rank then it would be pointless to get my MSN before I join.

PLEASE HELP!!!!????!!!!

BSN with no RN expeirence enters as a 2Lt
MSN with no RN expeirence enters as a 1Lt, so basically you would get an extra two years counted towards your rank.

Yea... a post by a FNP about being a FNP in the Air Force

I would have to agree with this since thats what came out of my recruiters mouth.

If I can get in it will be as O-3 with chance at O-4 in less than 2 years (only due to my years of experience over just having the MSN)... Is it good pay wise yes, is it good responsibility wise probably not... From what I have read the military seem to expect more from their officers the higher they go.

I would like to hear more from you on this subject.... Have you decided to go for it? What have the recruiter(s) told you?
