Re: LCDR Dan - I'm back

Forum Friends-

Guess I could update you all from here. The Mrs. is doing well, ship moved from Guatemala to El Salvador this past weekend. She's having a great experience. Took care of a family the other day whose father carried his 2 young children 9 hours just to get to the where they were providing care. Word spreads fast about the Navy being in the area providing care. She sends pics every now and again, the internet isn't the best on the ship, but better than nothing. We get to email here almost daily, MUCH better than decades past where snail mail was all we had. I make Powerpoint presentations for her, like for Mother's Day and when our 6 yr-old lost his first tooth and that seems to be helping her on the other end. We get to talk by phone maybe once a week, which is great for the boys. They miss her for sure, but they're pretty tough if I do say so myself. Nights are the toughest for sure. My mother-in-law was with me from APR 10th - MAY 9th, then my mom has taken over and will be with me until she gets back in JUL. Then my Mom will be back in AUG to help me through DEC. I'm very surprised at the support the family is giving us with helping me and the boys. I'm getting ready for my 2-week deployment which starts in JUN, may be tough on the boys, but NaNa (grandmother in Italian) will be with them, so they should be good. So far, all I can say is that I'm proud of the Mrs. and my boys for all that we're working through. It's a way of life and we're coping better than I expected. Making plans for Mom's homecoming in JUN. Thanks for asking and I appreciate everyone's thoughts. Take care.
