How many 91C (Army) RNs here?

I'm one - Did my time in the Army (Madigan/Walson/7th Med Bn in Korea) and took the CA state boards about 30 years ago! Worked ICU/CCU & ED while in Pre-Med program in college. Almost made it into med school and ended up with a BSMedTech. Progressed up to Lab Manager and then switched to lab information systems. Did Quality/PI/Risk Management for about 5 years and then went back to I.T., currently a Sr. Clinical Systems Analyst. Any stories?

Hello,
I see they change MOS's a bit, I had to google to see what yours was, now knows and 98M6, (LPN-Medic, yet, from what I hear it is much more than a civilian LPN).

I have not stories, I am IRR waiting to graduate and pass boards but, nice to meet you.

Re: How many 91C (Army) RNs here?

I'm an RN now who was stationed with my Air Force hubby in Ft Greely, Alaska - the only air force on the base. I worked in the clinic there and we had two "shake and bake" 91C's - this was back in the late 80's when there was such a shortage of LPNs. They were very good.

Yes, we were considered equivalent to an LPN/LVN when we completed training. My school was at Madigan/Ft. Lewis and they took us up the freeway in a bus to Seattle to take the WA state LPN exam. I took the RN boards in CA when I was discharged.

Re: How many 91C (Army) RNs here?

Currently my LPN's (91WM6 MOS Today) are my backbone, they help alot & are very rare in the ICU's in hospitals today U may see 2 tops. While in Iraq they do my job (Critical Care Nurse) (66H8A).

Wierd but true, not many RN to go to Iraq, less 8A's RN, so LPN's do pt care while 8A charge the unit.

I say if U are a 91WM6 go to the AECP & get your RN. The experience they get deployed is on a RN level they only need the degree.

There's been yet another change to the 91 series MOS... they are now the 68 series.

I did the 91C course at Ft. Sam in 1971/72. Challenged the CA state boards and passed. Haven't looked back since.

Re: How many 91C (Army) RNs here?

I am currently an RN-BSN working in ICU/CCU for the last 4 years. Did the army 91C/LPN school in 91-92 at Fitzsimmons AMC. Worked for a year in Peds/newborn nursery at Ft. Campbell before going to a field unit. I am going back active duty to CRNA school next year and owe much of my success to the army and it's LPN school.
