the command recruiter and no contract change

Hello,

In the thread, "how long does it take" the member named Cherish said that she completely changed her contract while in dep.

This is what I wanted to do and even though my recruiter said no, then his supervisor said, they were told I had to wait unitl I passed NCLEX, yet my recruiter also said that (I dont' buy it) would have to wait until I get to my first duty station I decided to email them again.

So, I emailed and asked one more time if we could change my contract like I'd been asking since before December and if I could have a copy of my SF 86 form, (the ten year history form).

I wrote his update in the above named thread but, here it is...

Hello,
I sent the email requesting to change my contract completely and got a reply.

I was told that it is not possible and that I would have to release.

Okay then, looks like that is out of my hands.

So, I see that they are adamant about NOT changing a contract. I wanted to eliminate my bonus and loan repayment and change my date availabe to enter...especially since I do NOT have assignment orders yet.

Gen

I would talk to a DIFFERENT recruiting battalion or a different military service. I definately would not continue with this particular recruiting station. Sorry to hear that.

Here is the Officer Candidate School regulations...it has information on recruitment into this program too. I would look at it and read it. Hope that helps. If not google more army regs in whatever your question might be.

Hello Cherish,

Thank you for your searching and posting. I have indeed checked around at both sites.

The central recruing division for this area has assured me that there is no "changing" your contract, there is only breaking it.

So, I knew the woman on the phone because she had worked on my initial packet for five months. I told her that I would begin the process to re-apply immediately and get my letters of references re-sent.

In the meanwhile I will also ask at the AF and NAVY too.

Gen-now I just need to successfully complete my program and test nclex!

Hello JaxiaKiley,
Thank you so much.

My recruiter and his commander finally said to send the letter requesting release.

I did, and I also contacted one more person.

Well, interestingly now that the letter reached a higher up *now* it seems that 2 of the three requests were "no brainers" and easily fixed and the third has a strong possibility.

I do not know why my recruiter and his commander said this couldn't be done but, now I have a "regional recruiter" and a "recruiting director" both telling me that it should be no problem.

When asked if I wanted to relinquish my commission my answer was "NO!"

Phew, I guess if I hadn't have tried I would never have gotten beyond my recruiter and his commander's "nope".

Gen-hmmm? all that un-necessary drama! (during school on top of it all-not conducive to happy studying for sure) thank goodness it is being resolved

Glad to hear that most of your requests are now being taken care of. Good Luck in your endeavors. You now will be going to OBC/OCS after graduation right?
