Need Information - Army Nurse Candidate Program

I've been in the ANCP program since October and have not been paid the stipend or half of the $10,000 bonus. My Healthcare Recruiter assures me that there was a glitch in the system because I am a prior servicemember. I guess my question is if anyone is familiar with the program, in the program, or have encountered the same issue I am dealing with and what was done to resolve this problem. Thanks

Re: Army Nurse Candidate Program

i was in the ancp from aug 05-may07. I think it took me about 3-4 months to get my first payment. i was prior service also, and the program had just been reinstated, so had lots of problems. once they started paying me though, had no problems the rest of the time. had the same problem once i was active duty, they took a while to start paying me as a direct commission and most of it was not correct (being prior service and all).

i think your delay is a little much though. good luck in getting paid.

Thanks for replying to my post, hopefully this will be resolved much sooner than expected. I wish I had a contact someone at Ft. Knox that could fix this matter. Were you reimbursed any back pay for the time that you weren't getting paid?

Re: Army Nurse Candidate Program

yes, they paid me from the time that i started school - 1000 a month and 5000 at the beginning of the school year. the pay twice a month and will not pay once a month. if you go to school durin the summer, they will pay you during the summer months but if you do not attend, they will stop your payments until you start back up again. good luck and if you have any more questions, feel free to ask.

Re: Army Nurse Candidate Program

Hello All...
I have some questions about the program. I am interested in becoming an Army Nurse as a career until retirement. Right now the waiting list to start clinicals will not start until 2010. I was told I could take up to 5 courses for my BSN, but that will not take me until 2010 to complete. My questions are, at what point do you begin to apply for the program? Once in the program, do they send you through basic training or do you go through a course for officers? How difficult is it to get into? Should I take an ROTC course while in the BSN program?
If anyone has any answers to these questions, I would greatly appreciate it. Thank you all...

Re: Army Nurse Candidate Program

You can be in the program for the last 2 years of your bsn program. if you want to get money for the full 2 years, i know i applied around march for the april board and then i was paid for the full 2 years starting in aug. if you have already started the nursing part of your program, you can still apply i think up to the last semester of your schooling. for most bsn programs that i am familiar with, you apply in the spring to start in the fall and there is no wait list, just like law school or med school. if you don't get in you wait and apply again, so i am not sure what you mean by the waiting to get into clinicals.

to be in the program you have to be attending nursing school full time in a bsn program. you do not go to basic training. you attend school and that is it. once you graduate you have something like 90 days to take the nclex. you get 2 times to try and pass and if at that time you do not pass, then the army has the option to bring you in as enlisted. if they do this and they don't have to, then and only then would you go to basic training and ait. they can bring you in as an officer if you graduated with a bsn but just did not pass the nclex, or they can bring you in enlisted. if you pass the nclex, then you go to oblc (officer basic course). this is not basic training. only enlisted go to basic training. for the ancp you do not have to participate with rotc. there are other programs out there, rotc, green to gold, smp, direct commission. each one has pro's and con's. hope i was able to answer some of your questions.
