I need some help. I have been approached twice in the last week about doing some in home private duty nursing. The client's family want to pay me out of pocket, but I am unsure of the type of documentation that I would need to do to protect myself. Actually, I am unsure how to do any of this. Can anyone help me????

Good question, I am not familiar with the paperwork. I do want to nudge you in the direction of getting your own liability insurance.

You also should check with the BON to be sure you are following guidelines. Remember, Nurses often but not always perform skills under Physician Orders. I am sort of thinking out loud here and hope others will add some ideas to consider based on their experiences.

I already have my own private liablity insurance. I am in the state of New Mexico and have read thru the Nurse Practice act. I thought that I would also call them on Monday and see what they have to say.

If at all possible, if you could post a document here as an attachment for future assistence, when you find out, it would be helpful to all.
