Smile Becoming an Independent Contractor

Could anyone tell me how I can become an independent contractor for homecare? I am currently a home care nurse (RN with BA degree) and would be very interested in providing services for clients who are Medicare/medicaid patients in PA.

Any assistance would be appreciated.

Re: Becoming an Independent Contractor

I know in NY you apply with the State to become an independent medicare provider. They give you a number for billing and you do the paperwork.

Re: Becoming an Independent Contractor

Hi David,
Who do you call to get this billing number. I live in Colorado. Will they issue it to a one person nurse?
Thanks,
Dorothy
