residency ?

I have started gathering information regarding traveling with my husband and daughter. We have decided to home school her and have all the information that we need regarding that and we think that the educational expeirence seeing different parts of the country will help her. My husband is a full-time dad so we are all able to do this. Due to other circumstances we are renting an apartment where we live but we are looking to put our things in storage until we know that this is what we want to do and put down roots somewhere else. What do you do about residency since we technically would not be in the state anymore? All our family is still here. Would we use one of their addresses for DMV purposes? What about state taxes. Any help about this would be great. I am sure there are other nurses who are doing the same thing.

Thank you
