Question First job

Does anyone have a suggestion on where a first travel assignment would be?

Re: First job

Just pick a city in the US, and a hospital/unit based on your current job. That way, the set up will be somewhat similar. If you were at a community hospital, try to stick with that and if you were at a big metro hospital, try to stick with that. I suggest this because the cultures and nursing styles of those are different from each other, and this way it won't be too much of a shock to your system.

I've noticed San Francisco, California area has the best pay and benefits, however if you aren't in it for the money, then try anywhere that is under the dart you throw at the map.

So far I've been to Baltimore, Atlanta, Huntsville, Kauai, Portland and San Francisco bay area, and each place has been a different experience. It's just up to you to make the best of each contract.

Spiderella, Just out of curiosity, how did you like your assignment in Kauai? That is where I am considering going for my first assignment.

Re: First job

It depends on what you want, if you want to go far away from where you currently live or stick around someplace closer. For me the first travel assignment I took was fairly close to my hometime, which made me feel better not to have to start over somewhere far from my friends/family. I really like the facility I'm in, in downtown Fort Worth, they give you a really good orientation, which was good for me since it was my first assignment.

Beachgirl, what hospital are you at and how long was your orientation?
