About 6 months ago I heard of jobs in this area of telecommunications through Humana. Apparantly they set you up with the technical equipment at your current home. You provide a room with a locked door as your 'office". I do not have any contacts there but it's probably worth researching. Best wishes...

Cool Try IntelliCare

IntelliCare has perfected the home-agent model and has deployed more than 100 RNs at home across the country. Good luck! :hatparty:

Intellicare also has nurses doing disease management from home. They will be hiring soon, if not now for the disease side of their business. You may have to go into one of their office sites for training.

Red face Work at Home

My friends sister is a nurse, she just got a job with McKesson, which is patient education done via company computer from home. Another name that might be worth researching is Cordova.

I too am looking for some type of home based nursing. I have recently been hospitalized with a chronic illness and unfortunately will be unable to return to work (currently in a Pediatric ED) I don't feel disabled and I know there must be something out there that is nursing related that I can do at home.
Thanks for all the suggestions and if there are more I'd like to hear them.
This will be the first time I have been without a job since my son was born and that was 31yrs ago.

All help will be appreciated

I just joined in with this site and came across your mail. I too have been recently going through some medical problems and find it difficult to return to my present positon as a pediatric office nurse/telephone triage nurse. What have you come up with?

If I can find a home position in the field I love, that would be great! I have 8 years experience as a pediatric ER nurse and then 8 years as a pediatric telephone triage nurse. I recently divorced and need to move away from my wonderful in-house telephone triage position. If I can do this from home, WOW! I didn't know it was possible. Our triage office work nights and weekends and contracted with about 150 pediatricians to take their calls. During the winter months, we would average over 200 calls a night. That is from 1800-0700. If anyone knows an "in" on this, please let me know!
