Hello, I am interested in telephone triage nursing. I have been an RN for 13 years. I did a lot of telephone triage for an endocrinologist for several years along with lots of diabetic teaching! I've had a variety of experiences including long-term care, home health, dialysis and I've currently been 5 years on an in-patient rehab unit (strokes, amputations, hip/knee replacements etc). I'm 50 yrs old and MY hips/knees aren't what they used to be!

I've done computer charting for years and I was a school secretary prior to nursing, so I'm comfortable with typing/charting, prioritizing and organization. I would love to find a home telephone triage position. I wouldn't mind training in an office setting, but my goal is to work from home. I have a dedicated computer and printer as well. What companies are currently hiring/training for triage nurses? Are certain companies considered better then others? Also, are there classes on-line or books I could order for core curriculum that would help me get into this field? Any ideas, or suggestions that you might have will be much appreciated. Thank you in advance, Sue
