I was just wondering what kind of grading scale everyone is on for their nursing program... I am in an ADN program and we have to receive an 80% in all nursing classes.. but the 80% is a C. I personally think this is kind of ridiculous and many students in my program have told me this is not the case elsewhere... So I'm just curious! =)
During my first 4 semesters ours was 92-100 A, 83-92 B, and 75-83 C, with you having to make a 75 on everything. They just recently changed everything to a 10 point scale like other undergrad programs on campus. They say they're did so because they are placing more emphasis on the ATI test to force students to learn everything.
A: 92.5-100
B: 83.5-92.49
C: 74.5-83.49
F: 0-74.49
So, yours is pretty standard from what I usually read on here. My school happens to round (it's listed as 93 for an A, but it's really 92.5 that you need), others don't. Some places you need an 80 to pass, others 73 or 75, but it's not like other subjects where a 60% D might even be considered passing.
Just remember you can't compare grades from one school to the next.
People don't like to admit it but some schools test harder then they need to, some don't test hard enough, some test right on, some schools go further into information making a class harder and some don't.
All schools are not equal. This isn't saying some are bad or some are good. It's very possible the school is aware of how students typically do and the grading scale has some basis on that.
This comes up from time to time and you will hear "you are luck you only need a ____". You really don't know.
i'm not in nursing school yet, but i will start this summer and the BSN program that i will be attending has a similar grading scale w/ 93-100 an A i can't remember the lowest C off the top of head but it's either a 75 or 80!
