CheLLo ALL!

I'm Class of 2009! It's feels sooo Good! I've been researching Mosers vs. Tabers Med Dictionaries. Any feedback regarding 'em. & Do you think it's "muy importante" (hey Im in LA: ) to get the latest publication/version?
Thanks in Advance!

I'm debating between purhasing a mercks manual or Tabers, mercks is 60 bucks, and Tabers is only 39, I might just end up buying both of them cause both are on my 'recommended books' list. However, I definitely wont buy Mosby oocket dictionary, rather invest in something more complex.

Great ideas! Here are some of mine:

Listerine Breath Strips- no gum allowed in clinical. Can't stand Death Breath!

A Jump/Pocket/Thumb drive: our nursing computer lab only has one printer for about 75 computers. I write my papers, store them on my jump drive, and take them somewhere else to print!

Also, when I work on stuff in Barnes & Noble, or somewhere like that, I take my ipod and listen to my favorite tunes while I crank out the paperwork. That way, I'm not tempted to eavesdrop on the Yahoo Personals love match taking place at the next table. Yikes!

Good luck to all!
Kathy

Re: What are the item(s) you need most for nursing school?

I have a Stedman's and a Dorland's Medical Dictionary. I love love love them both.

My school actually has a kit you buy that has all the stethoscopes and what nots and do dads. So, I will tell you what I found to be lifesavers, so far.

Suggested list of nursing supplies

Invest in a thumb drive Get one that has at least 1 Gig of space

Invest in mass quantities of ink pens

Invest in some type of Coffee plantation, you will need it for the long nights

Purchase a pad for your bottom, for all the "chewings" we receive

Invest in a warehouse of Kleenex, as you might find yourself on several occasions wondering "WHY you got yourself into such a mess"

FINALLY the most important thing to invest in is a comfortable chair for your desk at home with a HUGE cushion, as you will find yourself in it studying, eating, napping, and crying.

IT IS SO INCREDIBLY WORTH IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Funny, I was just thinking about the crying agenda today, I think I will do a lot of crying during my nursing program, great tips, good luck

I've watch others in my class flipping through page after page, looking for an assessment form.
Oh my God yes! Those clear plastic sleeves are the best for staying organized!

I have about 300 of those just waiting to be used! I will probably put our lab manual in them, so it doesn't tear up over the semester, and also the syllabus for each class and lab ( if it is different from the manual). A pack of 100 is so cheap and I got them on tax-free weekend! I am having too much fun buying school supplies!!!

Oh, I'm sorry you all have to wear white! I feel lucky, we get to wear navy, although for most of us, we were allowed to wear character scrubs in peds (as long as we all had navy bottoms) our maternity site required everyone to wear ceil blue scrubs & in psych, we're allowed to wear any plain colors we want (generally sticking to the pink, blue, green range of things, nothing too bright) I personally love the dickies hip-flip pants...they have lots of pockets, and are very well made. Not sure how they are in white, but they are probably fine!
