I do it very lazily. I park as far as I can from class or clinical sites and I use the stairs like crazy with my 2 ton backpack on. That's about all you can really do at school unless you could qudit a gym or weight training class then you could come and go as you please and still work out. I did it one semester at my old school and used the showers after so I didn't stink for my next class.

My schedule isn't too bad, so I'm able to exercise. I do 30 minutes 6 times a week, because I don't have time to do an hour . . . I do workout videos at home. There are a huge range of options and it saves time having to drive to a gym. I just make it a priority, like eating and sleeping . . . it's not optional for me.

What are you diets like? I am used to eating on the run, which is not really healthy
My hips have really taken on a different appearance, what do you eat on the run? I joined the gym and hope I can find time to utilize my membership
Any suggestions is appreciated
Thank you for responding to those that have done so

I try and eat lots of healthy snacks - carrots, apples and naners.... then I usually just pack a sandwich. But I use whole wheat bread and no cheese and all that.
I also have some gaps in-between classes, so I work-out in-between classes....
Good luck!

I bring my own lunch every day - we have a fridge and a microwave in our common area - usually leftover stir fry or pasta, and then I'll toss in a yogurt or cottage cheese and a thing of applesauce or peaches. I also keep mixed nuts and dried fruit in my backpack. Anything but vending machines. If I have to go out I hit the Panera close to campus instead of greasy fast food. We eat lunch at the hospital during clinicals, and I usually get a big salad and maybe a cup of whatever soup they have. I also take the time to cook dinner almost every night, and have my husband go pick up sushi the night before exams. Then since I eat healthy most of the time, I don't feel guilty when we wind up ordering pizza 1-2 times a month. I'm still trying to figure out how to fit in exercise though, I'm getting approximately none.

When I was in school, I took a PE class.
Or I would walk the track at lunch.

I say plan ahead and bring what you will need from home. Sandwiches, snacks, whatever. Avoid fast food, avoid vending machines . . . especially if you wait too long and you're starving, then the defenses are down and you just don't care . . . that's how I happened to eat a McDonald's cheeseburger yesterday (but I skipped the fries!)

Re: What do you do for exercise? Since your in lectures and classes daily, what kind

I exercise every day even if I have a test that nights ( I go to school 2 nights a week and have clinicals every other weekend). The only days I do not exercise are clinical days and that is because I'm on my feet all day and have paperwork to do that night. But I figure 2 days off every 2 weeks isn't too bad. I finally found something that worked for me, working out at home. I either walk 3 miles (weather permitting I live in a northern state - long winters) or do 40 min on a Gazelle I bought on craigslist. I tried doing dvd's and still may start doing them more once winter hits but I find them boring. I thought about a gym but I'm so busy (school, kids etc) that it would be a hassle so I needed something I could do anytime, even if the kids are in bed I can do my exercising while watching TV. It goes so fast and I have lost over 10 lb. (I had probably gained about 8 lb my first yr of nursing school). I know so many people in school who have gained a lot of weight. The stress and eating bad really can be bad for the body, plus when you feel bad about yourself you won't have as much confidence. I feel great and even when I don't have time to cook, I eat well. I always keep lean cuisines and fruit around. I also eat a lot of wraps and easy to make meals. I eat protein bars and fiber bars, and drink a lot of tea and water. It can be done. I never thought I'd lost those lb, I was really scared going into 2nd year because I did NOT want to gain more weight. I was feeling horrible, but anyone can make the changes just put your mind to it!!!

You sound like you're doing great and not to butt in . . . but you should consider adding some weight training to your cardio. You will be amazed at the results and all the studies nowadays say it's really important. Just a thought, no offense meant. I am addicted to work out videos myself, and I know you said they're boring but there are a TON of them so you might just need to find an instructor you really like.
