Hi, fellow-letter-accepted-nurses-to-be! I thought it would be great to have a place where we can all check in on one another. I started this on pre-nursing, but heck, we are official stu nurses now, right!! When is everyone starting?? What is everyone feeling?? I will start Aug 21. MAJOR butterflies! Three wks later, we'll be in clinicals! CYBI? How's everyone doing, feeling? Heather

Re: Welcome Class of 2008!

Class of 2008 here too! I am soooo excited and just can't wait to get started! My kids start school Aug 7th and I start Aug 28th so I have 3 weeks with out anyone at home. I too am stressed about money I think we are going to be able to make it but I am worried because it is really going to be very very tight. We are trying our best to not take any private loans unless we absolutely have no other choice. I know once school starts I will be wishing I was out for summer break again so I am trying to just relax but it is near impossible. Anyone else feeling this anxious?

Re: Welcome Class of 2008!

Class of 08 here too! I feel the same as everyone else, really excited but nervous at the same time. My first class starts on Aug. 22 and clinicals start 3 weeks later in a LTC for 6 weeks then to a hospital for the last 6 weeks. I'm nervous about balancing everything, I have 3 small children at home. I can't wait to get started though. We are finally student nurses! No more boring pre-req classes!!! Good luck everyone!

Re: Welcome Class of 2008!

Class of 2008!!! Yes, I am very anxious. I just finished a prep for basic nursing care class (essentially a CNA class) which was required before starting the program. I start on Aug. 28th and am very excited. In the class we just finished we learned vitals (temp., bp, respirations, and pulse), hand washing, body mechanics, lifting and transferring patients, feeding, and bed making. It was cool!!

I have a 6 yr old son and a 5 yr old daughter.
We start clinicals 2 weeks after starting school. Good luck to everyone!!!

Hello my fellow future graduates of '08. I too am very excited and nervous at the same time. I start August 22...2 days before my 22 birthday!!!!! I can only thank God, Jesus Christ our lord, and my patrons for getting me here. It's been a bumpy ride, and I know all of us are stronger wiser and more persistent this time around. I have no doubts that we will all succeed. Have fun for the rest of the summer.

Re: Welcome Class of 2008!

Wow, a lot of us have kids at home. I have 2, an 11 and 14 yr old. I have been preaching the "get ready, you're gonna have to do a lot more around here!" speech for the last year. do you think it'll help? Prob not hee hee

Red face Re: Welcome Class of 2008!

CLASS OF '08 RULES!!!:hatparty:

I am the mother of 5 (14, 13, 11, 8, 2) and start on August 15, ten days before the kids start.

Daycare (for the youngest two) is gonna kill me!!!! I am seriously debating whether we should take out a personal loan to pay for it.

I just quit my job as a CNA in LTC in the hopes of working in a local hospital, but so far, no such luck. From what everyone is telling me, I should not work while I'm in school anyway.

Does everyone start out with Fundamentals as their first class?
How many clinicals hours do you have a week?
Is anyone else taking any other classes along with their nursing classes? (I'm taking anthropology and spanish II to maintain full time status for my sponsorship and to go towards my RN-BSN)

Is all this keeping anyone else awake at night ?
