Where did you go about getting your vaccinations current for nursing school? My doctor's office only gives vaccinations to children.

Local Public Health Unit or the school's clinic.

Have you tried calling your doctors office, and asking them? They could probably give you the name & number for whoever does it in your area.

Did you ask if they would make an exception for you? Also, the school may have suggestions. The Health dept is great because they ususally have the newest stuff.

I got my needed vaccines at the local Department of Health. You could inquire with your schools Health Dept or check your phone book for Dept of Health around you..or check with Walk-In/Convienent Care's sometimes they have them.

I also saw that the pharmacy at Albertson's is now giving immunizations, including the Hep B series. (That is a grocery chain here in TX in case they don't have them where you are) You might check with other local pharmacies, just make sure they can give you documentation to take to the school. I got mine at CareNow (a clinic) and at my regular doc's office.

got them at the Health Service at school. One advantage of attending a university.

at my college, they were offered at student health

Did you get them already when you were a kid? Hep B and tetanus you may need again, and most places should give those to an adult, but you should also have had MMR and others when you were a kid. I just had to go and have my doctor do a titer, which showed that I had immunity to what they required.

I called my primary care but couldn't get an appt. for a few months. I ended up locating on another local college's website where to get immunizations. I went today to the Public Health Department, it cost absolutely nothing. Non-residents pay a nominal fee of $15. So even if your town doesn't do this, hopefully one close by will. Very convenient! They do all of them, MMR, TB, Varicella, etc. Only thing I had to bring was a picture ID.

If you already have all of these vaccines, then go to your local walk in clinic and have them draw a titer to test foir immunity.
That's what I had to do.
