This might sound silly but here goes. I was just reading another post & the student was having problems with time management. I'm somewhat confused. What is the proper time management for clinical? We just started clinical last weekend our instructor said that we will be evaluated on our time management skills but didn't elaborate any more than that. I need help please before it becomes a problem.

I am thinking they want you to develop routines for getting your assessments and meds done. As a new nurse time management is my most difficult stumbling block.

Keep in mind that nursing school should be treated like a job as well as school. You are not only learning, but preparing for a future job.

Go to your clinical instructor and ask him/her to clarify how they are going to evaluate you on time management. What skills are they expecting you to have? What are they expecting to see you demonstrate? In a workplace, an instruction sheet is often presented on a skill. Ask for details. You have the right to ask what you are specifically being graded on so you can look for information on the material, learn it, practice it and get it right.

The way you approach this as well as your performance is being evaluated for a future reference for your first job. Part of your job as a student, and your instructor's job as a teacher, is to help you learn how to manage your time. Don't just sit here at the computer wondering what time management is. Get busy and start investigating and work this out.
