Concerns - for those of us with less than perfect gpa......
|
|
hey everyone!!.....im a pre-nursing student in nyc. there's nothing more that i want at this point in my life except to be a registered nurse. when i first decided to pursue nursing.....alll i heard were discouraging and depressing stories of how hard it is to get into a program.....which got me soooo scared and i found myself getting so depressed because i dont have a perfect 3.5 or 4.0.........but i know theres nothing else i want to do as a profession.......i started reading this book called "Conversations With God".....it really helped me gather myself up and just go for it!!!! i would defiinitely reccomend this book to all those ppl who are pursuing nursing and need a push or anyone who is going through a tough time.....just read with an open mind.....you will love it!!........later on i found this website and i really believe that it is god-sent......i mean the book and this website......Just remember that if u decide to do something.....go for it and dont change ur mind....have faith in yourself and good things will come to u
PLEASE READ THIS BOOK PPL!!....I tell everyone i meet about it....what does it matter whether u get inspiration from a book or a best friend or a stranger....the key is to be inspired! and dont give up!

I had a 3.1 when I was accepted to nursing school. I would have been able to get a 3.5 or 4.0, but I had a lot of things going on in my life when I first attempted school. I had a HORRIBLE GPA.
I pulled it up to a 3.1 and got into school on the first attempt.
I know if God wants me to have something, I will get it. That's just how it is, perfect GPA or not, so I went for it.
I have has nothing less than a B in nursing course, and I graduate in December.

I had a 2.9 when I was accepted into nursing school. I am in my 3rd semester of 4 and I noticed that the majority of the people who had those 4.0's and 3.8's are not around anymore. Don't let anyone discourge you from your dreams because in the end nursing is about a lot more than just getting good grades. You could get an A in everything and not have common sense. HANG IN THERE BE STRONG WHAT"S FOR YOU IS YOURS

My school only required a 2.5 to get in, and the application process was first come, first served, so anyone with a 2.5 had the same shot at it as someone with a 4.0. Definitely go for it. My GPA wasn't great either when I went back to school, because when I was young & dumb I really blew it in college and ended up with lots of Ds and Fs for quitting without formally withdrawing. It's caused a lot of problems since, I can tell you, but I am in nursing school, and that's what matters!

I totally agree!!.....ive recently coming to terms with the idea that LIFE IS WHAT WE MAKE OF IT AND WE HAVE TO TAKE CONTROL OF OUR LIFE AND NOT LET OUR PROBLEMS TAKE CONTROL OF US!.....the more i talk to ppl who have gone through the same situations as me the more i belive that its possible....and that goes for everyone who feels the same way!! we are all here to inspire and be inspired!!.....I am gonna do this!

I have a 3.2 and just applied for the bsn program at Austin Peay. The cut off is a 2.8, but they hardly ever accept anyone under a 3.8. I dont know what to do. I have pretty much accepted the fact that i probably wont get in. I need a back up plan. I need to find a school within driving distance, but all i can really seem to find are community colleges which only offer the associates degree for RN. I just hate that i would have wasted a year and a half or prerequisites for this program and have to start all over again later down the road. Any advice as to where i should go or what to do?? I cant get any straight answers from students or advisors.
