My insurance company does not pay for Hep B vaccinations for adults and I have been considering paying for it out of pocket. My primary care physician will charge me 125 per dose, is that a good price and do you recommend that I get the vaccination or wait until I am employed with a hospital and get it for free?

My gut instinct tells me to get it done. What do you think?

See how much your local county public health clinic charges for the hep B vaccination shots. My local public health clinic was charging only $59 per injection, which was half the price of what my primary care provider was proposing to charge. If you are not in close proximity to a public health clinic, seek out the free clinics (if any) in your area. Good luck!

I have been going to Minute Clinic which are located in some CVS stores. I go to the one in Syosset but I think that there is one in Huntington. They charge 65.00 a shot. My last dose will be free since my school will pay for it.

My school required us to have the series at least started before we went to clinical or we couldn't attend. My insurance wouldn't pay for it and I think I spent somewhere over $100. I'd say go ahead and get it...it's worth the money to not worry about Hep B!

I had it recently, paid only $11 for one injection

(much less expensive than when I had the series of 3 a number of years ago)

We have to have the injection before we can start NS. I wouldn't wait. The advice her is good. Go try a public clinic or like others said CVS.

Wow, the health clinic here in Waco, TX only charges 20 per injection. There's no way I'd EVER pay 125 per injection.

That seems pretty high. I'd check at your country health department clinic...I went to mine and it was $45 per injection. I go back for my second next week.

I got mine done through the local health department. I think I paid like $25/shot. Give your local office a call and see what they charge. It should be one of the cheaper places to get it.

You are starting school, and sooner or later you will be in the clinical setting. If I were you, I'd get it done BEFORE you gain employment. You can be exposed to it during clinicals.
